Radiography is the art and science dealing with the application of various forms of radiant energies and waves on human beings, animals and substances for the promotion of health, diagnosis and treatment of various forms of diseases in hospitals, and industries for non-destructive testing/detective scanning and research purposes.
Radiographers are professionals who have gone through a prescribed curriculum of training required to develop the needed skills to effectively quantify and administer various forms of radiation and waves of minimum or no damage to the population and the environment to provide information on health or pathologic conditions. There is a global change in the training of graduates in Radiography from the hospital base to the university given the scientific innovations and technological advances in Medical Imaging.
The Bachelor’s Degree in Radiography strives to produce highly skilled professionals in medical imaging following minimum academic standards as set out by the National Universities Commission (NUC) for Radiography training in Nigerian Universities and full participation of the Radiographers Registration Board on Nigeria (RRBN).
The mission of the department is to provide appropriate and adequate training opportunities for the application of high technology and conventional medical imaging systems in medicine to aid diagnosis, treatment, management and research.
To be the world standard in inculcating and training the best Imaging Scientists with high quality and efficiency in the delivery of services through ensuring and sustaining excellent academic standards.
Patient-Centered Care, Accuracy and Precision, Continuous Learning and Development, Safety and Radiation Protection, Integrity and Ethics.
The Department of Radiography, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Kaduna State University was established in 2019. National Universities Commission (NUC) resource verification was done in November 2019 and approval from NUC was given in 2020. The first sets of students were admitted into the University for the 2019/2020 Academic session. The regulatory body, the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria, visited the department for an Advisory visit/ Pre-accreditation in June/July 2020.
Check the student’s handbook for admission requirements.
